Hello everyone!

I'm trying to sort the results in a category format of an inline query [0].

|sort=
seems not no work

[[Category:Name|Sort]]
does not work either

How can I sort the results in the category format?

Thank you in advance!

Christian Wagner

Heiya Christian,

the sorting will be done according to the category collation set with
the respective configuration parameter: [0]. See the notes at [1].

Hi Karsten,

thank you for pointing me to the responsible configuration parameter and
the corresponding notes.

For me it looks like a bit over the top. I just want to sort "Das
Glasperlenspiel" [0] according to Property:Has sortkey [1].
Can you help me to better understand what setting I need to choose to
get [0] sorted under "G" in [2]?

Cheers

Hi Karsten,

thank you very much for this elegant yet simple solution.

I elaborated the sort of the category format a bit further and found a
counter-intuitive order. In [0] "A A BB" is listed below "B B BB".
Can that be correct?

Heiya Christian,

do not make me ready. :D

To me it seems that the native sorting using just DEFAULTSORT and the
sorting via a set property at the same time causes the issue so I'd
recommend use either one or the other method for the category format.

Cheers

I cannot tell for sure whether this is a bug or a misconfiguration. The
example [0] with format=ul is still sorted "wrong" and I don't
understand why. Is this a bug, am I missing a configuration parameter or
am I using the sort parameter incorrect?

Heiya Christian,

same here. After removing the mix between sorting by a property value
and by the order imposed by DEFAULTSORT the expected result shows. So if
you consistently use the DEFAULTSORT you should be fine.

Hi Karsten,

thank you for making that clear.
So, the answer for Stephan is: No, it's not a bug. I should not use
{{DEFAULTSORT:/sortkey/}} and |sort=/sortkey/ at the same time.
